Culinary Colombia

Ah, Cartagena. My taste buds thank you.

First things first; if you don't indulge in some enyucado, you're not living right. Yuuuummmmm!

I don't even know how to describe it. It's like cake, but it's held together with yuca, coconut, sugar, cheese, butter...listen, I don't even know if these things should be together, but it is delicious! You can get it from any Palenquera in the walled city, or if you take a trip to Palenque, get it right from the source. You can see the head Palenquera wrapping up my order in the pics below. :-)

Next, find Paula on Airbnb Experiences, and learn how to make homemade ice cream. It's immersive, educational, fun, and delicious! It's also super family-friendly, so if you're looking for something to do with the kiddos, this is definitely it!

If you had asked me prior to this experience if I liked ginger ice cream, I would have given you an unequivocal 'no', but even the ginger flavor had me scooping for more. If you want to look her up on Airbnb, her experience is called, "Slow Food - Prepare Traditional Ice Cream." She's at Casa Venita, and she's so kind. We really enjoyed our time with her.

Want to be a little fancy with a crazy, gorgeous backdrop and ambiance? Or maybe you need a good date night spot. Try dining at the rooftop of the Amarla Hotel. They are inside the walled city, have 2-for-1 happy hour drink specials, and their ceviche is pretty delicious. They're also really close to all the good souvenir shopping, so you can hit two birds with one stone. This is the place you can get all cute and dressed up for if you're feeling spunky.

Lastly, but certainly not least, if you're not into coconut rice or whole fried fish with the head and fins still attached, you might be in the wrong place. :-) I can tell you that it will be seasoned to perfection, so you gotta at least try!

Enjoy!
